Abstract:

An iteration procedure for lidar data processing is described. The proposed algorithm is stable due to the use of calibration against the atmospheric layer lying at the end of the lidar path. An account is taken of a posteriori information about the aerosol stratification, which allows the backscattering ratio profile to be revised improving the accuracy of the calculated extinction coefficient as a function of altitude.
