Abstract:

A lower link layer protocol for a local network of optometeorological experimental setups is reported. The protocol is of a hybrid type that combines implicit token and random access schemes adaptively implemented by taking a detailed account of the network traffic structure. The procedure provides a bounded packet delay and is valid for any network topology. The protocol efficiency is shown to be superior to that of control token protocols such as CSMA/CD, BRAM, HYBRID.
