Abstract:

Measurements on the carbon aerosol optical thickness subject to a CW high-intensity laser field with a power density up to 109 W/cm2 are presented. The experimental and theoretical data are compared and the results obtained are discussed. The experimental evidence for various gaseous media suggests that the laser-induced particle combustion prevails over other processes responsible for the enhanced aerosol transmittance.
