Abstract:

A range of stable thyratron operation in the discharge circuit of self-terminating lasers is qualitatively analyzed and the relations between this range and the basic electrophysical characteristics of the discharge circuit and the plasma are established. It is shown that the inverse voltage on the thyratron, rather than the voltage on a rectifier, is most critical for the stable thyratron operation.
