Abstract:

The paper presents the discussion of a theory of polarization sensing of dispersed scattering media from the point of view of optical monitoring of aerosol air pollutions. Suggested interpretation techniques are based on the use of integral operators for mutual transformations of Muller matrix elements for a polydisperse ensemble of spherical particles. The operator equations are constructed for determining the index of refraction of particulate matter. Information capabilities of the operator approach are illustrated in the paper by the solutions of a complicated problem on the separation of molecular and aerosol scattering matricies based on the data of polarization measurements.
