Abstract:

Light scattering phase functions on the horizontally oriented hexagonal ice plates are numerically calculated in the geometrical optics approximation. The main quantity indicators of halos (Sundog, parhelion of 120°, and others) are obtained at different light incidence angles and aspect ratios of the plate. The scattering phase function parameterization in parhelic and subparhelic circles is offered based on the integral contribution of narrow angular peaks (halos), based on the tabulated weight coefficients.
