Abstract:

Based on the system of equations for the density matrix derived earlier, we obtain an expression for integral energy loss due to spontaneous Rayleigh scattering of nonresonant femtosecond pulse on non-polar molecules. It is shown that at typical femtosecond pulse parameters generated by Ti:Sa laser, the intensity of Rayleigh scattering is hundreds of times less than that of stimulated Raman scattering.
