Abstract:

An array of the optical meteorological parameters of the atmosphere of an arid zone is used to analyze the diurnal variability of the aerosol extinction coefficient in the visible and IR spectral ranges for three seasons (spring, summer, and fall). The most pronounced variability of the aerosol extinction coefficient is found only for the visible wavelength range for spring or fall haze and for the entire wavelength range from 0.44 to 4 μm for summer haze. Physical mechanisms contributing to the diurnal variability of the aerosol extinction under conditions of the arid zone are discussed.
