Abstract:

A lidar equation for airborne laser sounding of the upper sea layer based on the small-angle approximation is proposed. The lidar intensity range for variations of certain parameters characterizing the "lidar-sea" system is estimated. An expression for the attenuation factor is derived and its accuracy evaluated. The utility of the proposed approach is confirmed by the experimental evidence.
