Abstract:

The ensemble of calculated spectra (2311 realizations), that simulate the global measurements of outgoing thermal radiance in 660-2100 cm-1 spectral region by satellite spectrometer IKFS-2, has been analyzed in terms of informativeness (Kozlov information volume, degrees of freedom, Shannon information content). It has been shown that considered radiance measurements contain 106 independent parameters in the whole spectral range. The accuracy of the optimal parameterization of spectra based on spectral covariance matrix eigenvectors transformation has been analyzed. It has been shown that the use of first 20-50 eigenvectors in transformation is enough to minimize the parameterization error for the measurement noise level.
