Abstract:

The threshold for post-focal filamentation between the strength of laser beam focusing and its peak power is determined on the basis of experimental data and numerical simulations. The probability of this circumstance increases with the increase of initial pulse power both in the regimes of single- and multi-filamentation. The dynamics of the post-focal filamentation varies depending on the initial beam focusing and can have stretching or recurrection type.
