Abstract:

Theoretically generated bi-directional reflection functions for nonhomogeneous oceanic boundary clouds are studied using a singular value decomposition algorithm in an attempt to find simple parametrization as a function of cloud properties.  Results suggest that this should be possible using 4–6 cloud properties; but those cloud properties tried to date have not satisfactorily reproduced the shape of the bi-directional function.
