Abstract:

Coefficients of weak nonresonant absorption of pulsed ruby laser radiation (694.300 nm) by binary mixtures of water vapor with atmospheric air and nitrogen were measured for the first time using time resolved photo-acoustic technique with the threshold sensitivity kmin less than or equal to 10-8. The results of our study confirm the earlier conclusion of other authors that there is some substance in the atmosphere responsible for excess absorption of short-ware radiation.
