Abstract:

Different methods for element analysis of solid-state bodies and liquids by laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) are reviewed. A laser pulse of a complicated shape was used to increase the contrast of emission lines when applying the LIBS method. The main results of investigating the continuous background and emission laser plasma radiation dynamics are described using, as an example, a solid-state aluminum target and a barium solution. Minimum detectable concentrations of some components of water solutions are determined. The technique of multipulse generation was applied to monitoring the seawaters and phytoplankton. The use of a shipborne LIBS spectrometer for monitoring of seawater pollution is described, and the factor of pollution accumulation by phytoplankton cells is estimated.
