Abstract:

It is shown that the refractive-index fluctuation spectrum of the atmosphere can be calculated using the spectrum of star scintillations and computer tomography technique. Simple formulas are obtained for the refractive-index inhomogeneities strongly stretched along the Earth's surface. As an example the reconstruction is performed for the calculations of star scintillations observed by the station "Salyut-7".
