Abstract:

In this paper, we analyze the mid-latitude airglow response to weak and moderate geomagnetic storms. Experimental observations of 557.7 and 630 nm atomic oxygen airglow in Eastern Siberia (52°N, 103°E) obtained in 1997-2009 are used. It has been found that during some geomagnetic storms there were simultaneous disturbances of variations in these emissions. In this paper, we discuss features of the observed emission disturbances, their probable sources and relation to magnetosphere-ionosphere structures.
