Abstract:

The analysis was performed of the data level of the scattered light according to the daily observations on the solar corona at Kislovodsk mountian astrionomical station in the period 1957-2010 yrs. near the coronal spectral lines 5303 A and 6374 A. The observations were made near the solar limb and normalized to the intensity at the center of the solar disk. Revealed variations are of different durations: in particular, seasonal variations, local maxima of the last several years, and long-term trends. It was established that local changes in the level of scattered light can be caused by volcanic eruptions. The analysis established a tendency to increase the value of the scattered light by about 40% over the past 50 years. Variations in the level of scattered light were compared with the concentration of atmospheric aerosol. Long-term increase in the level of scattered light is close to changes of surface temperature of the Earth, and possibly is linked to the global climate change.
