Abstract:

Under our assumptions, the systematic errors in estimation of time delays between the information signals are analyzed with quadratic interpolation of maxima of generalized cross-correlation functions (basic cross-correlation functions, smoothed coherence transform, the phase transform (PHAT), and maximum likelihood (ML) weighing). The effect of various signal and system parameters on the studied characteristics is investigated. In general, the largest offset errors occur when using PHAT, the smallest, for the ML-weighting.
