Abstract:

An estimate of the accuracy of the approximate method of calculating the mean value, variance and correlation function of the solar radiation flux in the atmosphere with comulus clouds is obtained from a comparison with calculations made using Monte-Carlo algorithms. The approximate method is based on solving the stochastic radiation transfer equation written as the small angle approximation with the following averaging over the ensemble of cloud field samples.
